Another rambling post about another service I greatly dislike.
Why does everyone insist on using rapidshare? There are other services that provide better terms and storage space, ones that aren’t as evil. I don’t want to have to wait ten minutes before messing up an impossible CAPTCHA, downloading my … GPL’d program … and then finding out I have to wait 28,645 minutes before I can download the next one.
It’s gotten to the point where I search EVERYWHERE else for the file to avoid using that dumb*ss site. Forget Web 2.0. This is Web 0.2.
Readers, save a kitten. Don’t use Rapidshare.
UPDATE: A warning about EvilShare: their policy forces you to give them the copyright to your files. They can’t enforce this if the file you upload isn’t copyrighted by you. So don’t upload anything that you have personally created to their website ;)

try smestorage.com – easy to use and easy to share files with people. Its free for a certain number of MB’s – can’t remember how much free space you get though

They changed their captcha for the upteenth time, and now its hard as hell to recognize what the hell is on the screen. On top of that the wait times between downloads is unreasonable. Waiting to download a file to begin with is stupid and pointless. The bigger the file, the bigger the wait time. For WHAT?
I cant stand that fucking site, and really dont understand the morons who upload there, you might as well bury it in garbage. I find 4shared is a really good site.
Wow! download speed is about 23KBs for free users. And to make things worse …it stops completely around 80 % download.

For me, Megaupload almost always maxes out my line speed (as a free user) @ 10 mbit/sec (I’ve even gotten up to 20 mbit/sec on a faster connection). Rapidshare is garbage, usually giving me 1-2 mbit/sec as a free user. I only use them when I absolutely have to, then I take the files and mirror them to MU so others don’t have to use them.

rapidshare is the worst shit ever. i don’t get why so many people use it. if you don’t have premium you can’t download shit, and right now the whole site is down. Bullshit.
I have no idea why so many people upload to rapidshare either. It’s slow, requires unbelievably long times before downloads, and has ads everywhere for buying their crappy service. Almost every other uploading site is better than this,

I also can’t stand stupid fucking rapidshare, worst file host ever, I did pay for it a couple times, not worth it! they put a limit to daily download, only 2GB =/.. My favorite host has to be Megaupload, I use free download and get speeds the same as RS Premium.. Now RS has become even worse, they have the “Servers are full errors”, which makes downloading just that bad.. I hope they get shut down or something..
