I don’t have lots of time to blog about it, but if you haven’t seen “Edge of Seventeen”, you should. It’s an excellent movie about a teenager learning about himself and eventually coming out. One guess as to where I found it ;)

YAY downloading it now
@kornal: Awesome! … let me know how you liked it :)
@Hex : It was very good movie. The only thing I didnt like was the LONG and over done scenes. I though the movie might give people the confidence too come out much earlier in life, and not make mistakes that will be regretted later in life. I have a lot of friends that have come out late and has ruined a wife and kid’s lives and on top of there own, The movie teaches us to live your life the way you want, not the way someone else wants you to live.
Over all I give the movie 9/10.
BTW I am kornal :D my stage name ;D
@Benjamin: I’m glad you liked it overall :D … I teared up at the end when he finally said “I’m gay,” and had half my family not been in the room, I would have been full out crying. I’m slowly coming out to friends, and I’m out to my parents. I hope people can show tolerance and love so that we can come out sooner and avoid situations where families can be torn.
I’m always intrigued by movies of self-discovery, especially in youth (as that is where I am in my life now, lol)
@Hex: I’m 24 and came out about 2 years ago and my whole family knows… well maybe not my 98yo grand mother LOL but I tend to keep my personal life away from work as we all should do, gay or strait. Movies and TV shows about self discovery and gay life are great but they tend to portray us in a bad way, yes there are queens, flamers, and etc but not all of us are like that. One show “Will and Grace” portray what the real life of a gay person is like(god i hate that show LOL my b/f watch’s it daily that and csi I cant stand seeing reruns more than twice). as fare and tolerance with friends, know this you can always make more and better friends, there will always be some redneck prick that hates us. Just look at history we are just getting over the racism with African American’s (I’m voting for Obama) you cant blame them thats how they where raised and thats how we can stop it. unforchently I havnt had the opportunity to meet such a person and I might blow him/her off. theres on old saying “opinions are like ass holes everybody has one.” nuf said huh?. You might want to look into geting a SIRIUS sat radio they have a gay radio show called OutQ one of the BEST things ever for the GLBT community. Larry flick who does the morning show has this thing called “The Daily Dilemma” and talks about the same things that goes on with teen’s and adults lives. Sirius also have some killer techno channels. It costs me about 45$ every 3 months. That rounds off at 12$ a month = about 2 skipped meals at mcd’s check them out @ sirius.com
@Benjamin: Of course not all gay men act like the stereotypical gay man; I break a few stereotypes, one of which I exploit as my moniker, and it seems you break the same stereotype :) — btw, I also dislike Will and Grace.
When you say “that’s how we can stop it“, do you mean “it” to be racism? I very much doubt that racism can be stopped by voting in Obama. As you said, “that’s how they were raised” — as racist, and it won’t force them to view the world any differently. Lol, don’t you mean “fortunately” you haven’t met a racist?
Hehe, I hadn’t heard the phrase used with “opinions”; I’ve only heard it as “Excuses are like ass holes, everyone has one, and they all stink.”
Thanks for the radio station recommendation! Unfortunately, I can’t even afford $12/mo :(
