The Diff of Obama’s Website

16 07 2008

A story was run on Wired today about the McCain campaign using Versionista to show the changes in Obama’s website from 11 July to 14 July.

I don’t have time to scour and dissect the changes, but I thought one of the more interesting changes was the label put on how he would bring our troops home. BOTH PAGES show that he wants to foolishly withdraw the troops over a sixteen month period. The difference: the way he described this sixteen month withdrawal. On the 11th, it shows that he wants to “immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq.” On the 14th, he says he wants “a responsible, phased withdrawal.”

I reiterate that both these plans propose to bring troops home in sixteen months.

He’s trying to win over voters by saying he wants to responsibly phase us out, when really he’s just changing the label on his quasi-immediate withdrawal of troops. Nice try, sir.

Obama was one of the more moderate Democratic candidates to begin with (he was actually my fourth choice), so the fact that he is attempting to swing right on issues lately is frustrating to the Democrats as well.

@fauxpassport: It seemed to me he was one of the more liberal (after all, he has been against the war from the beginning), and my point was that he’s trying to seem as though he’s becoming more moderate, even though he hasn’t changed his views at all.
